Located 17 miles west of Chehalis, Wash., on the state's western side.
Constructed in 1935 in the heart of old-growth forest, this wooded park is known for its rainbow-crowned waterfall, which gives the park its name. A garden displaying 40 varieties of fuchsia is a favorite with visitors.

Park Overview

Rainbow Falls State Park is a 139-acre camping park with 3,400 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Chehalis River. Situated in stands of old-growth forest, the park features a waterfall and a small fuchsia garden.

The park is open year round for camping and day use.

Summer: 6:30 a.m. to dusk.
Winter: 8 a.m. to dusk.

Camping:
Check-in time, 2:30 p.m.
Check-out time, 1 p.m.
Quiet hours: 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.


Rainbow Falls State Park and the Willapa Hills Trail are closed until further notice due to extensive storm damage.

Significant History

The park, along with several log structures on the premises, was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1935.

Interpretive Oportunities

The park features a self-guided nature walk through old-growth forest.

Directions

From I-5:
Take exit 77 onto Hwy. 6. Head west in the direction of Raymond for 16 miles.

From Hwy. 101:
Turn east at Raymond onto Hwy. 6 heading toward Pe Ell. It is 35 miles from Raymond to the park.

Picnic Notes

The park provides one reservable kitchen shelter with water, electricity and 15 picnic tables, and another (first-come, first-served) without water and electricty. There are 21 additional day-use picnic tables, first-come, first-served. For reservations, call the park office at (360) 291-3767.

Group Camping

The park has one group camp that accommodates 14 camping units and up to 60 people. Fees vary with size of the group. To reserve, call the park office at (360) 291-3767.
